Feather now has templates

Until now, all the feather blogs look exactly the same, at least at the start. Now, I started creating templates for different use cases, starting with a company blog template and a product updates blog template.

I started working on a templating and theming system in Feather more than a month now and it’s finally live.
For each use case, I am planning to create a new template. Within each template, there can be themes.
For example, right now, I created three templates:
  1. Normal Blog Template
  1. SaaS Company Blog Template
  1. Product Updates Template

1. Normal Blog Template

This is a generic blog template. When I started Feather, this is the only template available.
You can find the demo of this template at normal.feather.blog.

2. SaaS Company Blog Template

I can see companies and products using this template for their blogs. That’s why I named it in that manner. But it’s generic enough so that anyone can use this template.
This template has four inbuilt themes.
  • Base (Black)
  • Candy (Red)
  • Rainforest (Green)
  • Sea (Blue)
You can choose any of these color themes and the entire blog will then use the chosen color automatically.
I made it flexible enough so that you can create your own color theme too. More on that later.
You can find the demo of this template at saas.feather.blog.

3. Product Updates Template

I can see people using this template for showing product updates or changelog. In fact, the blog where you are reading this post is also using this new template.
Even this template has four inbuilt themes.
  • Base (Black)
  • Candy (Red)
  • Rainforest (Green)
  • Sea (Blue)
Like the other template, even here, you can choose whatever color theme you want. The entire blog will then use the chosen color automatically.
You can find the demo of this template at product-updates.feather.blog.

Usage

To use this feature, all you have to do is:
  1. Go to your blog dashboard in Feather.
  1. Click on Settings in the Sidebar.
  1. Then click on Feature Flags Settings.
  1. There you can change the Blog Template and then Blog Theme.

Future Templates

My goal is to make templates for each and every use case. Each of these templates although made with a specific use-case in mind, you can use these for whatever use-case you want.
Some of the templates that may come in the future:
  • Personal Blog Template
  • Product Integrations Template
  • Knowledge Base Template
  • Course Template
  • … and many more.

Showcase

You can also find some real customer blogs by going to feather.so/showcase. There are some very creative uses of Feather there.
If you have any template suggestions, please feel free to reach out to me with your requests. I will add them to my list.
